This is a topic that I never thought I would personally talk about but my guides had insisted that I add this in a new blog.
When I use the word "overeating" I am really describing the desire to eat junk/sweets or any kind of food as a coping mechanism. Sugar, in general, is increasingly being recognized as an addictive substance. Don't get me wrong, I don't want you to get the impression that I am shaming you in any way for eating 'junk food'. The only question I want to ask is: What is your intention? Is it a treat for a long day of work? Or is it something you must have in order to keep your mind off of a stressful and anxiety ridden day?
When we eat sugar or comfort food to calm ourselves down we are literally programming our minds a positive association between the food and our own way out of stress and into a state of calm. This association makes it hard for us to quit sugar because we haven't found any other way to cope with our stress and anxiety.
How can we help this with crystals?
Crystals have a natural way of assisting us to look deep within ourselves with greater clarity so we can improve aspects of our life that will make us more joyful, happy, and fulfilled.
When you feel the pull towards sugar or other foods to get your mind off stress I invite you to drink a full glass of water and meditate with any crystal that you have that catches your eye. Notice where your mind is leading you. Notice what you feel inside. Feel your feelings without resisting them or labeling them. Breathe in deeply a few times and feel your energetic roots stem from your base chakra (at the base of your spine) all the way into the center of the earth. When you are ready, get up and write down any sensations you felt, any words, any repetitive thoughts, and anything else you would like to journal. Do this as much as you need to develop an inner coping mechanism to deal with daily stress instead of depending on outside substances
